Transcare:” Improving access to healthcare for transgender individuals”  is a two-year project co-funded in the Framework of the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014 – 2020) with a large number of partners working on it.  The consortium is composed by the University of Crete – Department of Social and Family Medicine, Colour Youth – Athens LGBTQ Youth Community, Positive Voice – Red Umbrella Athens, Orlando LGBT+, Medical Association of Athens (ISA), Hellenic Medical Students’ International Committee (HelMSIC), AKMI and ReadLab – Research Innovation & Development Lab, under the coordination of the MSc programme “Global Health – Disaster Medicine”, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

Just after the beginning of the project in July 2020, the Transcare consortium conducted their kick-off online meeting. Through this meeting, project partners had the opportunity to get to know each other and set the goals for their partnership, aligned with the overall aim of the project. They agreed upon the first steps of the project implementation, such as the creation of its narrative and visual identity – Transcare logo and promotional material. The consortium had the chance to discuss about the first deliverables of the project: the listing of stakeholders, the Dissemination, Awareness Raising & Sustainability Plan and the process of identifying the existing barriers to health care systems for trans individuals

This meeting marked the beginning of two years in which the consortium will commit to improving the access to healthcare for trans people in Greece.
