Transcare | 2nd Project Meeting

Transcare:” Improving access to healthcare for transgender individuals”  is a two-year project co-funded in the Framework of the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme 2014 – 2020) with a large number of partners working on it.  The consortium is composed of the University of Crete – Department of Social and Family Medicine, Colour Youth – Athens LGBTQ Youth Community, Positive Voice – Red Umbrella Athens, Orlando LGBT+, Medical Association of Athens (ISA), Hellenic Medical Students’ International Committee (HelMSIC), AKMI and ReadLab – Research Innovation & Development Lab, under the coordination of the MSc programme “Global Health – Disaster Medicine”, School of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

To ensure smooth and efficient project implementation and cooperation among the partnership, the consortium meets frequently online. At these meetings, the project progress is presented, followed by discussion, comments and feedback so as to attain the best outcome.

The second project meeting was held online on Friday, the 21st of January 2021. Among the discussed topics were a plan to assure the Quality Assurance of the Project and ways to involve the clinical staff and healthcare providers in the Needs’ Assessment process as well as how the largest possible part of them could be involved in the surveys that are to be conducted. Furthermore, the Dissemination, Awareness Raising and Sustainability plan of the project was presented and discussed within the consortium, as well as all the available tools and platforms that will be deployed throughout the project lifecycle for promoting and spreading the word about the project results, deliverables and activities. 

The project meeting was concluded with the agenda of the Policy Roundtable and partners’ input. . Transcare Policy Roundtable will take place online in March 2021 and aims for the interaction and discussion between relevant stakeholders, concerning the improvement of access to healthcare for transgender individuals.
