Transcare participation in Athens Pride 2022

June is celebrated all around the world as Pride Month aiming to recognize the impact that LGBTI+ people have had on society locally, nationally and internationally. Pride Month started being celebrated after the Stonewall riot in 1969.

In Athens, the Athens Pride Parade this year took place on June 18th, 2022. At the same time, in Syntagma Square, there were booths, where organizations aiming to raise awareness about LGBTI+ issues, displayed their work and informed people.

Transcare as a program aiming to educating medical and nursing staff about the needs of trans people, was there throughout all the days of the pride festival. At our booth, people were informed about the goals of the project and the conclusions that have been reached so far. They also had the opportunity to be informed about the upcoming actions of the program, as well as ways in which they can participate and be systematically updated about the project’s news.

Transcare’s presence at the pride festival was a beautiful live opportunity to communicate the program to an even larger part of the general public, but also for trans people – or even people of the LGBTI+ community in general – to feel seen, by watching their needs being recognized, and discussions and actions being taken to fulfill them.

We are grateful for everyone who stopped by our booth and we are looking forward to future opportunities of celebrating love, equality and diversity.
